Why LUT?
The choice to deliver these styles as LUT was made actively as Color Lookup Tables was and is the most powerful format to apply adjustments to images and not only.
The limitations of Adobe Lightroom (Lr) and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) have been prominent, especially when compared to the potential of Photoshop (Ps) Adjustment layers, as well as other specialized LUT editing tools.
The main argument could be that neither Lr or ACR have a color balancing tool that can individually control color bands and not only. Such an example could be the Selective Color tool in Ps.
In order to be able to utilize those powers, but not go all the way into creating Ps actions, which could be too complicated – and also wouldn’t use another very useful tool, the 3DLUT Creator.
How to work with LUT?
It is fairly simple.
If you are on a desktop then you can use Photoshop. You can find Color Lookup in your adjustment layer options. Open your image, open the Color Lookup adjustment and load the file.
If you are on the go, then we recommend that you use the Polarr image editing app for phones. They let you load and apply LUT to your images.
If you are working as a video editor, LUT is the main way you have been loading many color settings anyway so LUT doesn’t need an introduction.
